It is crucial to identify your balding hair to be able to know the requirement of each particular hair transplant you need.
The number of grafts needed for the empty space of your head is important to fully achieve a normal, healthy hair. Grafts are areas on your head that have thick hair, like the back of your head.
These areas have follicles that are transplanted to the front or crown of your head. It is important that you have these requirements to match the number of hair follicles needed on that empty area.
There are 6 types of balding, from Class 1 to class 6. This begins with the mildest to a most severe baldness. Here are the classes of hair loss you should know. This is also a basis or reference for you to figure out which best suits you.
This the mildest case of baldness. People who have this mostly are in their 30’s, and get balder 5 to ten years after. The areas losing hair are only on a bit upper part of your forehead. This is a receding hairline with 700-1100 grafts required.
This the type where areas that have no hair are in M shaped like that heads of Wayne Rooney and Jude Law. Bruce Willis and Kevin Spacey used to have this when they were younger. This class is also called ‘receding hairline with M pattern.’ This class of baldness requires 1100 to 1500 grafts.
This is probably the present situation of Bruce Willis and Kevin Spacey. The M-shaped has lost. So the full front hairs are gone but the crown is preserved. This needs 1500 to 2000 grafts.
This is probably embarrassing. This is where the frontal part and crown of the head have very minimal to no hair. But there is a good chance for total repair with this class of balding. 2000 to 2500 grafts are required.
This is quite severe with an extended balding. This is probably the case of Jude Law when he gets 60 years old. Notice Bruce Willis today. That could be the head image of Jude Law in his later years. This is the second most severe balding, that is why this class requires 2 transplants, with 2500 to 3500 grafts required.
This is the worst. Most people who have this class of balding wear a wig. Definitely in the old days, in a comedy movie for instance, you realize that the man is bald when the strong wind blows away his wig from his head. This is the type of hair loss they’re in. This is the very extensive hair loss. Nevertheless, partial repair is possible and 3500 grafts are required.
At this point you should already know what class of baldness you’re in. Your doctor will make sure that you have those requirements.
And by the way, be sure that you have enough hair at the back of your head.
